Samuel de Champlain Bridge

samuel de champlain bridge evolve

Project Description

The Samuel de Champlain Bridge project was implemented under a P3 agreement between the Government of Canada and Signature on the Saint Lawrence Group (SNC-Lavalin, ACS, HOCHTIEF and BBGI). The new bridge, which spans the St. Lawrence River between Montréal and Brossard and replaced the old Champlain Bridge, links Île des Soeurs in the St. Lawrence River to the Montréal borough of Verdun.

The project scope also included the construction of approximately 4.4 km of highway, with connecting interchanges and overpasses, the demolition of some existing infrastructure, as well as maintenance and operation of other existing infrastructure, including Autoroute 15 on the island of Montréal and on Île des Soeurs. Work on the Samuel de Champlain Bridge lasted 42 months, with lanes opening in both directions on July 1, 2019.
