LAX Automated People Mover
(APM)

lax automated people mover evolve

Project Description

The LAX Automated People Mover (APM) project includes the design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance of a total of 6 stations along a 3.6-km elevated dual guideway to connect passengers to and from the central terminal area of LAX with intermodal transportation facilities, as well as a new US$1+ billion consolidated Rent-A-Car facility (procured separately). The developer is also responsible for the delivery of Bombardier APM vehicles, as well as the construction of a 7,000-m2 maintenance and storage facility.

The APM vehicles, elevators, escalators and moving sidewalks will provide quick access to the terminals and stations. Once the project is complete, the public will enjoy a free and fully automated APM system that will function 24 hours a day and operate up to 9 vehicles simultaneously, with each having a capacity to hold approximately 200 passengers and their luggage.
