Stanton Territorial Hospital Renewal

stanton territorial hospital evolve

Project Description

The scope of the Stanton Territorial Hospital Renewal project in Yellowknife initially included the renovation and expansion of the existing Stanton Hospital (now named the Łıwegǫ̀atì Building), to be executed as a P3 procurement. The successful consortium, Boreal Health Partnership (BHP), however, proposed to build a brand-new hospital and renovate the existing hospital building to lease out.

The new 27,270-m2 facility, organized around a 2-storey podium and 3-storey inpatient tower with 105 inpatient beds and an expanded emergency department, provides clinical services including medical imaging, dialysis, obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiology and mental-health programs. The new hospital opened to patients in May 2019, and the project is currently in its 30-year operations phase. This was the largest capital investment in the history of the Government of the Northwest Territories.
