Tramlink
Project Description
Tramlink (formerly Croydon Tramlink) is a 28-km light-rail system connecting London to its most populous borough, Croydon. The system has three branches radiating from a central loop around Croydon town centre and uses a combination of dedicated track, as well as mixed street-running and reserved track on streets, with sections of single, double and interlaced gauntlet track.
Tramlink operates at speeds up to 80 km/h. Construction began in January 1997, and the system became operational in May 2000 with 38 stops.
