North Bay
Regional Health Centre
Project Description
The North Bay Regional Health Centre, a joint redevelopment project between the North Bay General Hospital and the Northeast Mental Health Centre, is an integrated facility comprised of an acute-care hospital and a long-term mental-health facility on a common 80-acre site. The new 574,292-ft2, 4-storey North Bay General Hospital accommodates 275 beds, with a larger emergency department and a new ambulatory care centre.
The new Northeast Mental Health Centre is a 150,373-ft2, 2-storey facility providing 113 specialized and forensic mental-health beds, associated outpatient services, a client-services mall, gymnasium, workshops and psychiatric offices. Construction was completed in June 2010, ahead of schedule and on budget. The project was the largest capital project ever completed in Northeastern Ontario.
