Project Description

The Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital project involved the design-build of a new 10-storey hospital, as well as the restoration and adaptation of the old Don Jail, a heritage site in Toronto, to house the hospital’s administration, education and support facilities. The project also included the demolition of the previous hospital, a clinic building and the Toronto Prison, as well as redevelopment of the surrounding street and landscapes.

The new hospital, a 680,000-ft2 centre for the treatment of complex chronic diseases, accommodates 472 beds and includes the Christine Sinclair Ambulatory Care Centre. The facility opened in March 2013 and achieved LEED® Silver certification.
