nhs health-care complex evolve

Project Description

The Niagara Health System (NHS) Health-Care Complex project provided a new 970,000-ft2 community hospital in the Niagara region to replace two aging legacy facilities. The new 5-storey hospital accommodates 374 acute-care beds and offers a comprehensive range of clinical services, including longer-term mental-health services with 53 inpatient beds and cardiac-catheterization services for diagnostic investigation.

The Walker Family Cancer Centre provides services for 1,200 patients in the region, offering local care and eliminating the need to commute to Hamilton or Toronto for treatment. This project received the CCPPP’s Silver Award for Project Financing and is LEED® Gold certified. The facility opened for patients in the spring of 2013.
