Cortellucci Vaughan
Hospital
Project Description
The Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital (formerly Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital) is a 1.2-million-ft2 health-care centre opened in June 2021. It was the first hospital to be built in the City of Vaughan and the first “smart” hospital in Canada, featuring technology systems and medical devices that can communicate directly to maximize information exchange and improve patient care.
The hospital design, which consisted of an 11-storey tower and 5-storey podium, accommodates 367 beds and a full range of acute medical services. The new facility is LEED® Canada-NC 2009 Silver certified, with a state-of-the-art ER, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Mental Health and the York Region District Stroke Centre.
